Hey Speedy.

I found your blog mentioned at Freegan.info, and I'm writing because my theatre company LightBox (www.lightboxtheatre.org) is working on a big project for this fall called The Food Project, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in being interviewed for the piece.

First a little background on what we're doing. The central aspect of the Project is a play that we're making called "We Will Be Fed," a multimedia theatrical performance about Americans, food, appetite, and happiness. Part documentary, part fiction, the play examines how a diverse array of Americans make choices about the food they eat, and how those choices affect their lives and the world around them. One of LightBox’s specialties is creating plays that use multiple genres in a single performance. "We Shall Be Fed" will mix transcripts from real-life interviews, a fictional storyline about shoppers and employees in an urban supermarket, and found texts.

We've been developing this material for a couple of years, and one of my first instincts was to have one of the characters be a New Yorker living "off the grid," for a number of reasons. I thought there'd be some great theatrical poetry in exploring the unseen places and rhythms of New York city, the parts of the town that no one sees. I'd love to have an exploration of the urban ecosystem in the play (from Freegan.info: We harken back to older ways, ways where people lived as foragers off the bounty of the Earth; as participants, not masters in the continuum of life. We remember our nomadic foraging ancestors. Living in the cities and suburbs that have replaced the wild, we, too, forage).

Drop me a line if you're interested: sdfagan@earthlink.net.
